Advocacy and Citizen Diplomacy

Catholic Relief Services advocates for better relations between citizens of countries often viewed as antagonistic to the United States. For example, CRS' work in strengthening the capacities of local non-governmental organizations in parts of Iran and Iraq is viewed as a gesture of goodwill and a symbol of hope for future inter-religious, as well as international dialogue. CRS' activities in North Korea are viewed similarly.

CRS promotes dialogue in Vietnam between U.S. and Vietnamese representatives, engaging both church and government representatives. CRS also supports citizen advocacy in Egypt, and promotes an annual anti-violence advocacy campaign in the U.S.
