Anthropometric Survey Manual. Davis, R. and T. Karunesh. 1998
This manual was developed to assist CRs, Field Offices engaged in Food Assisted Child Survival (FACS) activities, respond to USAID/BHR/FFP’s requirement that results reports include anthropometric data from population based surveys. While the manual is designed to guide Field Offices in this specific type of programming, it also provides an array of useful information and resources for all those conducting, or planning on hiring others to conduct, population-based anthropometric surveys. It is designed to introduce key issues at all levels of survey implementation, including planning, training, sampling, fieldwork, analysis, and report writing.

A Community Based Surveillance System for Maternal and Early Neonatal Complications: The Intibuca Case Study
This publication is the result of a collaborative experience in the maternal health area, which CRS led in collaboration with COCEPRADII and the Secretary of Health (Region II) in the region of Intibuca, Honduras. This case study describes the development of a population-based health information system aiming at the collection of information on maternal and neonatal health in rural communities isolated from the formal health system. Additionally, the paper describes the training methodology, information flow, and supervision approach used in the system. Based on the experience, its results and lessons learned, the authors concluded that maternal and reliable information to prioritize, plan, implement, and sustain effective intervention strategies can be produced and sustained by community

C-IMCI Handbook: Community Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses. CRS. 2002
This Facilitator’s Guide is intended to help plan for the training of community based health providers who diagnose and provide treatment in any form to children outside the formal health system. It is a guide designed to operationalize Element 2 of C-IMCI, which is specific for improving the technical abilities of community health workers in managing child health. The manual is divided into chapters consisting of clinical guidelines designed for the management of sick children aged 60 days to 5 years old (Note: The guide recommends that sick children aged 1 to 59 days old should be referred immediately to the nearest health facility).

Research Report/Vietnam: “Assessment of Educational and Health Needs for Children and Youth with Disabilities Identified as Affected by Agent Orange/Dioxin”
CRS/Vietnam has conducted this initial survey research on the needs for education and health care among children and youth with disabilities who are identified as affected by Agent Orange/dioxin. This report, written by Dr. Pham Huy Tuan Kiet and colleagues at the Hanoi Medical University, finds that children identified as dioxin-affected have the same types of disabilities as other children, but with higher severity and rates of many types of impairments. Approximately 50% of children surveyed attend mainstream schools, while the remainder stays at home, never pursuing an education.
