CRS Partners in Georgia
The work of Catholic Relief Services is accomplished in partnership with Church and local organizations led by the people we serve. By working with partners, we can bring about real changes to systems that contribute to poverty, hunger, injustice and conflict around the world. Our partnerships result in efficiencies of time and resources, especially during crises, when every minute counts.
Abkhazintercont (AIC)
Abkhazintercont is a locally registered organization that CRS has been working with since 2006. This motivated group includes people who are internally displaced and who work with CRS as part of our IDP Community Integration Project (ICIP). ICIP addresses the critical needs of people displaced in the Imereti region of Georgia. AIC implements microgrant schemes in six districts of Imereti. More than 1,300 local inhabitants and 650 internally displaced people have received over 100 microloans and 250 small-business grants. In the ICIP, CRS and AIC coordinate vocational training, small-business opportunities, psychosocial counseling and legal support.
Caritas Georgia
Caritas Georgia has been working in Georgia since 1993 (officially registered in 1994) in response to the mass displacement and social upheaval after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In December 1998, Caritas Georgia became a member of the worldwide network of the Confederation Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Europa. CRS supports the work of Caritas Georgia on behalf of vulnerable young people to promote human development and social justice, bring relief to vulnerable and disadvantaged people, and encourage self-responsibility and dignity. In addition, Caritas is CRS' implementing partner on our Parish Social Ministry and Volunteerism project.
